FJUSHD Set to Open on February 16th

Elementary Districts Open For 5-day In-Person Instruction with options for Distance or Hybrid Learning February 4, 2021 - MJ Noor

We want to thank the Fullerton Joint Union High School District (FJUHSD) board of trustees for voting unanimously on February 2nd to open its high schools for hybrid learning, which include those in Fullerton La Habra, and Buena Park. This decision comes after countless moving testimonies from parents concerned over the mental health of their children and the quality of their education, and in spite of strong opposition from the Teachers’ Union. The Parents’ Voice USA has been a stout proponent of the resumption of in-person instruction and was instrumental in the decision to reopen the Fullerton Elementary Schools (FSD) just a few weeks ago. It should come as no surprise that we were once again successful in encouraging the decision to open the high schools. The push to reopen our schools comes following a new study from the CDC, indicating that in-person education does not notably contribute to community spread of COVID-19 (link), and clear evidence that continuing to isolate students is causing widespread mental health issues, anxiety, and depression (link). Perhaps even more importantly, studies have clearly indicated that remote learning is less effective than in-person, especially for those students that are already struggling (link). “Our schools are well prepared to reopen,” said MJ Noor, founder of the Parents’ Voice USA, “and have taken CDC recommendations very seriously. Given all the evidence, it's clear that opening our schools is not only unlikely to put our students and instructors at risk but vital for the well-being of our youth.” We would like to thank the (FJUHSD) Fullerton Joint Union High School District and the (FSD) Fullerton Elementary Schools leadership for listening to the voices of our parents and community. Opening our schools is the responsible thing to do. The Parents’ Voice strongly encourages the High Schools to open for 5-day in-person instruction, including sports.
